23-June/96

We'll be out of town for a while. You'll have to get the results elsewhere (the Swedish Fotball Page for example).
The game against MFF was ÖIS' thousand game in the Allsvenskan.

10-June/96

The draw today against AIK gave ÖIS their thousand point in Allsvenskan.
ÖIS is in the UEFA Intetoto Cup. This is because Spain decided not to join. See game fixtures for information about where and against who we play. In case of a victory in the group, ÖIS will move on to play qualifying matches for the UEFA-Cup
GP today published a league table where ÖIS was 4th with another win by 2-0 (against AIK?). Thanks for believing in us!

6-June/96

Please note that the game against AIK has been moved to Monday the 10th of June.

31-May/96

Bengans agent Roger Ljung has been contacted by (among others) the Italian club Inter. Bengan isn't interested though.

30-May/96

Morgan Nilsson will not be playing for a few weeks due to a knee injury.

25-May/96

There is a rumour that both Nottingham and Coventry will have people on Gamla Ullevi next monday to watch Bengt Andersson. It's rumoured that Nottingham are willing to pay over 5 000 000 sek to get the best goalie.

24-May/96

Finally the match report from the derby is finished, read and weep.

23-May/96

Once again ÖIS has been decided to provide the "worst match-programme" by Fotbolls Extra, it's the second year in a row. When will the board notice that there is A LOT to be done, have they stopped reading it since it's to boring?
MFF didn't do what they were supposed to, and so we missed the InterToto Cup. :-(

22-May/96

If you want to go on the Camel-Ride to Uddevalla on Wednesday the 5th of June the trip will cost you 60:- + entrance fee for the arena. Contact the Supporter Club for further info.
One of this years most important games is to be played at G.Ullevi tomorrow. The Swedish Cup final between MFF-AIK. If Malmö wins, ÖIS gets to play the Uefa InterToto Cup.

20-May/96

You'll have to wait for todays game report for a few days, we're very busy in school right now.
Despite last days bad weather it seems todays game is to be played as scheduled.
We have to warn you all, IFK's entrance fee is 80:- (GAAH!!) for the terraces, and they claim ÖIS supporters are well off! Who could ever afford going to every game at that price?!

11-May/96

The day before yesterday Big Bengt played for Sweden, surprisingly he let one slip in. Samba-Erik played for the Swedish U21 team and scored in the 2-1 loss against Sweden-B.

1-May/96

On Monday the 6th of May this site will be down due to a move to a new location. The move should be finished at about 7 o“clock (pm) and you should then be able to access us again.

Finally the first home game in the league! You can read the pre-game report here.

26-Apr/96

We've updated (most of) the player presentations and made our way to the 20th century in the history department. Check it out and tell us what you think.

25-Apr/96

Yesterday Bengan and Rúni (Runar) played for Sweden and Iceland. Bengan was superb in the game against Northern Ireland, sadly enough the Swedish defenders were in his way when he tried to stop the Irish goal. That's why ÖIS only uses three defenders. Rúni also played well in the game against Estonia, he scored one goal and led the Icelandic team to victory.

21-Apr/96

Finally the Allsvenskan has begun! ÖIS started with an away game against Örebro SK, which ended in a 1-0 victory for Örgryte IS! For further details on this game I suggest you to visit this (my) site: Kamelernas Oas i Cyberöknen.
Best regards: John Ahlberg.

20-Apr/96

Sadly enough, none of us will be available to update this site during the next week. We suggest you turn to G-P, Kamelernas Oas i Cyberöknen or the Swedish Football Page for results. We're awfully sorry for not being able to provide you with the information.

11-Apr/96

Well, history has repeated itself. Again ÖIS loses the quarterfinal of the Swedish Cup to AIK Solna.
There is a new ÖIS page on the web, check it out here.
If you haven't noticed, there is Supporter Club page available under the Supporter HQ area.

10-Apr/96

Those of you who've read here before already knew that Gunder Bengtsson has signed for PAOK Salonika. It's now official.

4-Apr/96

Our opponents in the cup will be AIK Solna, yesterday they beat GIF Sundsvall 2-1. The game is to be played on the 11th of April at Råsunda.

3-Apr/96

Also the second league round has been postponed. New premiere date is the 21st of April. (Damn!)

2-Apr/96

Seems like we'll lose Gunder Bengtsson (manager) to the Greek club PAOK Salonika. According to the Greek-TV he's reached a deal.

1-Apr/96

ÖIS has been drawn against either GIF Sundsvall or AIK Solna in the 1/4-final of the Swedish Cup.

30-Mar/96

Local newspaper G-P claims that our manager Gunder Bengtsson has been contacted by the Greek club PAOK to be their coach. Gunder says he“s thinking about the offer. It would be sad to lose the man who gave us the sheikh.

27-Mar/96

According to Aftonbladet Leeds are interested in signing Bengan "Ballen" Andersson. Bengan claims they haven't contacted him. Since he's just signed a three year contract with ÖIS this won't be a Bosman case and he'll probably be quite expensive. Let's hope Aftonbladet is wrong (again).

26-Mar/96

Please read the text about the 1985 Swedish Championship finals.
It has been decided that the league games on the 8th of April are to be played at a later date. Hopefully the pitches will be playable by the 14th of April.

24-Mar/96

If the first league round gets cancelled, ÖIS will play a friendly against Trelleborg on the 8th of April. Let's hope it doesn't happend.

We“re through to the 1/8th final of the Swedish Cup thanks to the 1-1 draw against Gunnilse.

18-Mar/96

By next Tuesday we'll probably know if the league premiere is to be delayed, there will be a meeting between the Swedish Football Federation and all the top clubs.

16-Mar/96

ÖIS beat Öster 1-0 and is thus the Cyprus Cup winners!
Today ÖIS will meet Öster in the Cyprus Cup final.

9-Mar/96

Today ÖIS easily beat IFK Göteborg with 2-0, check out the match report.

7-Mar/96

The game against IFK Konsum (Göteborg) is to be played at the ÖIS-gården in Kallebäck at 1 o“clock p.m. on Saturday.
If ÖIS doesn't lose to Gunnilse, we're to play IF Elfsborg (our beloved (not!) minister of state's favourite team) in the 1/8 final of the Swedish Cup.

6-Mar/96

The game against Djurgårdens IF might get delayed or moved due to the frozen Gamla Ullevi pitch.

2-Mar/96

Todays game against Brøndby has been cancelled.

27-Feb/96

On the 9th of March ÖIS will play IFK Göteborg, presumably at the Slottskogsvallen, be there.
On the 11th of March the team will travel to Cyprus to meet two Norwegian teams and Halmstads BK.
Tommy Svensson, Swedish national coach, has been quoted saying that Bengt Andersson has been outperforming Thomas Ravelli at the trainings. In the Hong Kong tournament, which Sweden won, Bengan didn't let any goals in while Ravelli let 5 in (4 penalties).

22-Feb/96

Yesterday the fabulous attacker Rune Börjesson died at the age of 58. He scored about 300 goals in the red jersey, of which 91 in the top division (125 games). He played in ÖIS from 1954 to 1961 and was the swedish top scorer twice thanks to his cooperation with Agne Simonsson. After his session in ÖIS he played for Juventus and Palermo. He also scored 17 times in 21 games for the national team.

21-Feb/96

V. Frölunda gave up, Magnus Källander is ours!

6-Feb/96

Both of us are going abroad for a week so there won't be any news or updates for a while.
ÖIS will play against Tampa in Florida, we'll se if we can get ahold of the result when we're back.
Please check out the newly opened Supporter HQ. It's not finished, but you can start discussions in the Discussion Board area. And please join the supporter list if you're a fan of the team.

2-Feb/96

After a total of 19 years as a member of the board, including 10 as chairman, Ingvar Fast will leave ÖIS on the 12th of March. For the last three yars Ingvar has been the chairman of ÖIS' football section.

The new chairman of the football section will be Anders Lundberg, 40 years of age. He has been a member of the board for one year.

1-Feb/96

The ÖIS manager of football, Gunder Bengtsson, celebrates his fiftieth birthday on the 2nd of February. We say "congratulations in advance".

30-Jan/96

The swedish national team is going on an Asian tour in the two last weeks of Februrary to play against Hong Kong and Australia. Bengt Andersson(g) and Sebastian Henriksson(d) are the ÖIS players who are in the team.

28-Jan/96

I have unconfirmed information that Roger Lindqvist has signed for us.
The ÖIS sheikh Abdus Qureshi is going to divorce his swedish wife. Don't worry though, he will continue to support the team of wonders. This is proven by the fact that ...
Next week the team will travel to West Palm Beach, Florida, to visit the sheikh and play against the local college teams.

23-Dec/95

Stefan Lindqvist“s (IFK Göteborg) younger brother Roger has been in town talking to Kalle Björklund about joining the holy team. He is currently owned by Halmstads BK.

19-Dec/95

ÖIS has reached an agreement with the V. Frölunda midfielder Magnus Källander, the only problem is that V.F. won't sell him. Let's hope they change their minds.

18-Dec/95

Today ÖIS has signed Patric Karlsson from IFK Norrköping for 325.000 sek. Last season he scored 12 times in the league plus twice in the playoffs against GAIS. We welcome him to Gothenburg and wish him luck while playing in the holy outfit.
